How to work out what tyres you need, what to look for, and the common traps to avoid when buying.

Need new tyres? Start here

Buying tyres is easier when you know your size and what matters to you. Here's how we help customers choose.

Step 1: find your size

  • Look at the sidewall of your tyre for a code like 205/55 R16.
  • That's your width, profile and rim size — punch it into our tyre search.

Step 2: think about how you drive

  • Mostly around town, long motorway runs, or off-road at the weekend?
  • Tell us your driving and your budget and we'll recommend the right tyre.

Common traps to avoid

  • Don't buy on price alone — grip in the wet matters.
  • Check your alignment so new tyres don't wear unevenly.
  • Mixing very different tyres across an axle affects handling.
